What are the "floor limit "and" recharge amounts? Why are they important? When you pay for your EasyTel services by credit card, as most customers do, Genie can keep watch over your account so that you don't run out of money for services. Whenever the amount of service you have available drops below your "floor limit" ($30), Genie will process a charge to your credit card for your pre-set "recharge amount" ($25), and add that amount to you available funds for service.
For many customers, the $30 floor limit and $25 recharge amount work very well. However, if you expect to use a great deal of service perhaps you have a big sales promotion under way and expect hundreds of calls per day you might want to consider changing these amounts.
You can change your floor limit and recharge amount at any time, by sending a message to customer service. (See above) Be sure to include you First Name, Last Name, Universal Office number and the amounts you wish to set for the floor limit and recharge amount.
To pay for EasyTel services by check, simply send your check to:
EasyTel Payment Center 22647 Ventura Blvd. Suite 1004 Woodland Hills, California 91367, USA
Be sure to include your Universal Office number on the check. Your account will be credited the day we receive your check. But remember if you pay by check, Genie can't automatically recharge your account for you if your funds drop too low.
You can pay by credit card at any time. Just sign in to your EasyTel mailbox, and select Option 7 from the service menu. Genie will tell you how much you have available in your account, and then allow you to make a credit card payment on line.
If you have been paying by check and want to start automatic credit card billing, you will need to contact Customer Service (See above). Be sure to include you First Name, Last Name, Universal Office number and credit card information.
When you get the first message from Genie, telling you that you are low on funds, do NOT delete the message. What happens is that, whenever an event occurs which would create a charge against your account (such as an incoming or outgoing call), Genie first checks to see that you have funds available. If you do, the call is made. If you do not, Genie then checks to see if there is already a message about your funds in your mailbox. If there is no low-funds message in your mailbox, Genie puts one there.
Re-charge your account before you delete that first low-funds message, and Genie won't mistakenly send you repeated messages.
To cancel your service (and we hope you won't), you MUST do so in writing (30 Day Notice Required). Send an email, fax or letter to Customer Service (See below). Be sure to include your First Name, Last Name and Universal Office number, Your Fax number and a telephone number.

Customer Service can set up your email forwarding for you, quickly and easily. Contact Customer Service (See above) and tell them your First Name, Last Name, Universal Office number and the email address to which you want items sent. Then tell them whether you want voice messages sent to email, fax message sent to email or both. Finally, tell them whether you want those items delivered by email ONLY, or if you want the messages left in your Universal Mailbox as well.
When you place an outgoing call through Genie, don't hang up at the end of the call. Instead, press the pound key twice (##). Genie will come back on the line so that you can make another call. To make International Calls make sure that you have requested that Customer Relations has enabled this feature! Call your Genie and press 0.
Just sign in to your EasyTel mailbox, and select Option 8 from the service menu. At the next menu, select Option 1. This will take you to the menu for working with Phone books. To create a new phone book, select Option 4 from this menu. Genie will give you a brief explanation of the "single feature" phone book. She will then ask if you want to set up a phone book with other Universal Office numbers, or one with outside numbers. You will also be asked to record a name for the phone book.
Once the phone book is created, you can work with it, to add and remove numbers and names. From the same menu you used to create the phone book, you can ask to work with it, using Option 1, 2 or 3. Option 1 lets you work with your "Main" phone book, which was created for you when your account was activated. Option 2, let's you pick a phone book by number. Option 3 let's you pick a phone book from a list that Genie will read to you.
Genie will be more than happy to answer your phone in her voice (such as "Hello and thank you for calling. You have reached the office of John Doe."). To set this up, you need to contact Customer Service (See above). Include your First Name, Last Name, Universal Office number and the text of the greeting you would like Genie to use. There is a one-time $15 charge for the custom greeting. E-Mail your greeting to:genie@easytel.net
Just sign in to your EasyTel mailbox, and select Option 6 from the services menu, to work with Follow-Me service. You may have up to three numbers programmed, each of which can be turned on or off individually. Just select the number you want to work with, and follow Genie's prompts to turn each one on or off.
Just sign in to your EasyTel mailbox, and select Option 8 from the service menu. At the next menu, select Option 3. This will take you to the menu for programming features of your Universal Office. Next, select Option 5 to work with your Pager service. Just follow Genie's prompts to set up your pager number.
There are two ways to use your EasyTel account like a calling card system. 1) Call your private Universal Office number and sign in to your account. Then select option 5 from the main Services menu. 2) Call any of the EasyTel Public Access numbers, and press the # key. Then enter your Universal Office number and password. Now you can simply dial all of your calls directly through Genie. As you finish each call, just press the pound key twice (##) to start another call. How do I change feature sets (such as when I go on vacation)?
For most of our customers we have a public conference room available that holds 148 callers by using your Local & Toll Free Numbers. Call your number and press 5 + 7 or on some groups it's the 7 key. If you need to have more than five people in a conference call, just send a message to Customer Service . Include your First Name, Last Name, Universal Office number and the date, time and number of callers you need the conference room. E Mail service@easytel.net. or Call (818) 391-8000.
My password doesn't work. What do I do?
You will need to contact customer service, by phone, fax or email. (See above). Be sure to include your First Name, Last Name, Universal Office number, and information on how best to get back to you. AudioGrams are being delivered too late at night. How do I stop that? Genie can be very persistent in trying to deliver your important messages. If you give her an AudioGram to deliver, she will try up to five times to deliver that message. When she calls the number you gave her and gets a busy signal, she will wait ten minutes, and then try again. But if the number rings and no one answers, she will wait ONE HOUR, and then try again. To avoid late-night calls, be sure to ask Genie to start delivering your message at least five hours before the latest time you want her to call someone. And don't forget about time-zone differences!
When Genie sends out an email message with a voice message or fax attached, and you can't open the message, there are generally three possible reasons:
1) Attachment Limits Genie sends sound recordings and faxes as "attachments" to an email message. A few email systems (such as AOL) do not properly handle messages with more than one attachment. 2) No "viewer" program To be able to hear voice messages and view faxes, your system must have a program that allows you to "view" (or "hear") the file Genie sends you. If you are using Windows 98 or Windows NT, your system should have a viewer that can display your faxes. If your PC has a sound system and you are able to hear other sounds, you should be able to hear voice messages from Genie. 3) E-Mail Client Configuration A few email client programs still need to be told explicitly which viewer program to use for specific attachments.
If you do not know how to configure your PC or Email client software, you will need to get assistance from whoever normally provides your PC support. For voice messages, you will need to be able to handle "wave" files. These files have names ending in W-A-V, and are the most common type of sound files used on PCs. For faxes, you will need to be able to use "TIFF" files. These files have names ending in T-I-F. Be sure to tell your support person that you need a viewer that is be able to read TIFF files with "multiple segments". The Wang "Imaging" program, which comes with Windows NT, is one such program.
Free software from http://www.versiontracker.com
If you are using Windows 97; 2000 or WinNT you probably already have a TIFF viewer under Start |Programs | Accessories | Imaging. If you installed imaging when you installed the Operating System the FAX should open automatically when you click on the FAX attachment in your email.
If you did not install it you can rerun your Operating System Install program to add it.
If you are still using Windows 95 you will need a TIFF viewer for viewing Faxes. You may already have one with another FAX program such as WinFax or image program. If you need a viewer you can Download the Wang TIFF Viewer you will need to unzip it using pkunzip or similar uncompress program and make it the default viewer for TIFF files. A better option is to upgrade to Windows 2000. It is faster and more reliable than Windows 95 or 97.
If you are still using Windows 3.x forget it. Upgrade today.
If you are a MAC user obtain the Omni Professional software which is used for scanning and converting faxes. Open the Omni Pro and when it opens it prompts you to open the document, click desktop, look for the name of the FAX and click open.
If you are using Microsoft Windows 98; Windows 2000 or WinNT you already have a Microsoft Audio Player.
